My primary areas of research are Masonic orders and rites of initiation connected to them, western esoterism and new religious movements.
I defended my thesis From Darkness to Light: Western Esoteric Rituals of Initiation in the fall of 2003 (University of Göteborg). The thesis deals with the development of Masonic rites of initiation from the year 1700 to the modern Wicca movement of the 1950´s.
My interest in new religious movements is primarily centered on the movements originated in western esoterism and occultism.
