Research interests: new religious movements/alternative spirituality, including body-and therapy oriented spirituality, religion and popular culture, death as memory (transformation and communication), feminist theory and gender theory.

I obtained my undergraduate degree in religious studies at the University of Oslo in 1997, with the thesis " Gjennom Lysmuren, inn i the New Age. Ein analyse av kjønnsideologi i den nye spiritualiteten " I defended my PhD thesis in May 2011 (University of Bergen), called "Spiritual Health. A Cultural Analysis of Views of Human Life Among Alternative Therapists". The thesis is an qualitative in-depth analysis of anthropologies and cosmologies within the field of alternative therapy. I have since researched spiritualism, religion and media, religion and popular culture, and cultural practices surrounding death. In 2016, I was granted full professor title. I work at University of Stavanger.
